Sandy was born in 1986 in Lebanon and raised in Ticino. Her roots are in the Middle East; the Syriac/Assyrian ethnic group. Ever since she was a child, she had a strong passion for cooking, arts, and movies. She dreamt many times of spreading in different ways the love that she has for her passions. She is fascinated by her origins and her strongest desire is to build bridges between the Middle East and the rest of the world through art, culture and historical heritage – her passions combined in a sense.
Throughout her education she tried to focus her studies on the Middle East area. In fact, her Master thesis, “The Public Private Partnership in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – an empirical study of the determinants in MENA region,” analyses the different and important factors in life in that area.
In 2016, she had one of the best experiences of her life so far as a volunteer. For 3 months she worked in a medical center in Beirut where she was in contact with refugees. During the summer of 2016, she co-founded the MiddlEats Food Project, where they educated the people about the Middle Eastern food traditions. They participated at the Street Food Festival, selling more than 20’000 falafels. It was a huge success. They also organized a cooking class and 2 pop-up restaurants in Zurich while working on this project.
Her passion resides in creative freedom where she can express herself. She is an open person, positive and eager to learn. She loves to work in a multicultural environment, surrounded by people. Currently, she is working as a Digital Marketing and IT Product Manager at Sonova (medical device company). Innovation and technologies are part of her life and work, because there is always something new to learn in this area of expertise.
